Congratulations to the both of you. The 1st year is year of major adjustments. I don’t know if the two of you were living together before, but if you weren’t, the 1st year is ‘Surprise – this is who I REALLY am!’, lol.

My wife and I didn’t live together, but we did the equivalent – self contracted our home together before we were married. I told her if we could build this without killing one another, we’d probably stick together for quite a while. 18 years and counting, we’re still good.

    Congratulations again.

Congratulations on your anniversary! It’s up to the individual to have a happy life, but a good woman makes a good life better. FYI: I travel some and was recently in several parts of China, several of the blogs I routinely visit were blocked, your was not, apparently you have international clout.

Wirecutter, Happy Anniversary to you and Miss Lisa!! It seems like guys like us have trouble finding the right girl. It took me many years to find my Liz. We have now been married for 22 years and still going strong. I hope the same for your and your wife. Take her to a nice place tonight.

  27. That is a woman of great character and discernment, and that is a rare and valuable thing. If she can recognize your brilliance, as well-hid as it is, she must be some kinda Amazon wonder woman with friggin’ x-ray vision or somethin’. Good for you both! :D

Good for you two, Happy Anniversary. Not being smart like you and I was young 23 or so , my anniversary is on may 29th. Opening day of trout season and the machinegun shoot up in Oregon.

  33. Rebecca says:

Congratulations to you both – the best is yet to come. How did you celebrate?

    • Wirecutter says:

A nice dinner out, I had steak and prawns, she had burgundy braised beef tips and pilaf. The first nice day that comes this week we’re going to redo our first date – a drive to Hornitos, a semi-ghost town an hour southeast of here, then a drive home down the backroads of the Mother Lode.
      Thanks for asking!

      • Rebecca says:

I have been married nine years, it is marriage #1 for both of us. What I wish for you over the next three years: you forget your wedding song (we have), you become best friends (more important than “dates”), and you forget your anniversary until somebody else sends you a card. That’s us. “Um, there is something about this weekend, but what is it?”

For example, we never go out to eat without sitting at a bar where my husband can watch whatever sport he wants without having to pretend to pay constant attention to me. This does not bother me in the least; how we are is ideal, IMO. We are very comfortable with each other, there are no forced “requirements” and therefore all gestures are sincere. I wish that for you as well –

Note: I’m not saying at all that a nice dinner out is a forced requirement. I’m just saying that I hope you two can continue to grow together, that’s all. Again, congratulations to both of you.

        • Wirecutter says:

This is my second marriage and her third. We get along famously – in the 3 1/2 years we’ve been together we’ve only had 1 fight. We enjoy doing shit together but at the same time we respect each other’s space and outside interests.
I’m glad I didn’t meet her 30 years ago or I’d have fucked up a perfectly good marriage back then.

  34. Hiker Mike says:

Happy Anniversary! Hope you and Lisa enjoy many more to come.

  35. MSgt B says:

    Holy shit.
Two years and no restraining order?
