Your friendly Eye in the Sky

Aviation buff John Zimmerman was at a weekly gathering of neighbors Friday night when he noticed something peculiar: a small plane circling a route overhead that didn’t make sense to him.

It was dark, so a sightseeing flight didn’t make sense, and when Zimmerman pulled up more information on an aviation phone app he routinely checks, he had immediate concerns.

The plane’s flight path, recorded by the website, would eventually show that it circled downtown Minneapolis, the Mall of America and Southdale Center at low altitude for hours starting at 10:30 p.m., slipping off radar just after 3 a.m.

“I thought, ‘Holy crap,’ ” said Zimmerman.

Bearing the call sign N361DB, the plane is one of three Cessna 182T Skylanes registered to LCB Leasing of Bristow, Va., according to FAA records. The Virginia secretary of state has no record of an LCB Leasing. Virtually no other information could be learned about the company.

Zimmerman’s curiosity might have ended there if it weren’t for something he heard from his aviation network recently: A plane registered to NG Research — also located in Bristow — that circled Baltimore for hours after recent violent protests there was in fact an FBI plane that’s part of a widespread but little known surveillance program, according to a report by the Washington Post.

The agency issued a statement saying the flights “were not there to monitor lawfully protected first amendment activity

Assholes, we don’t give a shit what they’re not doing; we asked you what they were doing.

While NSA may have “officially” stopped listening to each and every phone call, you can bet they still have access via companies such as stated in this article. Sub-contracting surveillance ain’t cool, Barack.

1984 in 2015. Big Brother is watching all of us and it will only get worse as technology gets more advanced. The federal government is beyond out of control.

  5. Saw something similar last summer. Sitting on the back porch, drinking beer with a bunch of vets from the different services, overlooking Lake Erie. Just before the sun dropped below the horizon we caught a reflection of something very high (Air Force pilot estimated 50,000 ft plus) flying a continuous, repetitive, figure eight pattern over the lake. We dragged out every long lens we could find and still couldn’t make it out. From that altitude, consensus estimated it could eyeball everything on lake & land from Cleveland to Buffalo & include Hamilton & Toronto and eastern Lake Ontario. AF pilot assumed it was a drone flying a programmed pattern. It never varied until about the fourth case of beer when we gave up and went to bed at about 0300.

BTW, thnx for posting, Ken – that site could prove most valuable.
