What are the chances… I know exactly where that is and the funny story that goes with it!
First, that’s Kwoiek Hydro Project, at Kanaka Bar in the Fraser Canyon, British Columbia.
Second, it was built for a Run-of-the-river Hydro electric project.
Third, and the funny part, is that it was built because when the Quebec based company that was in charge of the project approached the Native Indians about crossing their reserves, they said sure, for some stupid amount like 2 million dollars a month, per reserve! There are three reserves that they needed to cross, one of which has no one living on it and the other with one family on it. So, as you can see from the picture, they said F*** that ***T! And built the aerial ferry to the job site, right across the canyon. And they left it there, so that they never have to cross one of the greedy reserves in the future either!
