Y’all helped me to set a new record this month – I went over 900,000 hits in one month a little earlier today. Nine Hundred Thousand. Holy crap. Granted, those aren’t unique hits meaning that 900,000 different people didn’t see this site, more than likely it was the same 137 people staying up all night hitting the refresh button just to screw with my mind.

It’s a labor of love – it must be seeing as donations have dropped off to almost nothing since I retired even though I’m spending more and more time doing this. I’ve gone from about 9 posts a day during the week when I was working a full time job to sometimes 20 or 30 a day 7 days a week now. And while it only takes maybe 20 minutes a day to schedule picture posts, I figure I spend a good 2-3 hours a day compiling material to post between news, history and pics and that’s without me actually writing anything – factor in another hour for anything I do write. At least one hour – some posts I’ve worked on for several days a little at a time before I hit the ‘publish’ button. No, I’m not trying to guilt anybody into anything – like I said, it’s a labor of love. The friendships I’ve made and the interactions I’ve had, both online and personal, since I started doing this make it all worthwhile. The support and encouraging words that y’all have shown Lisa and I as well as other folks in time of need is just absolutely incredible. It really put my faith back into mankind and that alone makes it worth it in my eyes.

And when I just now went to my actual blog to check my sidebar counter for the combined hits for this blog and Knuckledraggin Pt I, I see that sometime last night I went over 41 million hits in 8 years of doing this. That’s so mind boggling I’m not even going to comment on it.

It’s been an evolving process over the years, changing as I’ve changed. Even when I was posting a lot of III Percenter stuff, I still kept more humorous posts than anything else. I refuse to let myself be all doom and gloom about anything and I wasn’t going to force that crap down anybody else’s throat either. There’s plenty of other sites out there that you can go to if that’s your thing.
I may die when TSHTF, but at least I’ll die with a grin on my face.

So what’s the big secret to my success, you ask?
I don’t know. I haven’t got a clue. Regardless of what anybody claims, it’s not the hotties I post first thing in the morning. Matter of fact, here’s a screenshot of my top ten posts of the day – the Good Morning Girl isn’t even mentioned.

I just dug down a little deeper and saw that the Good Morning Girl post is at #19 with some posts from yesterday more popular than that is. Huh, I didn’t think she was that ugly.

So yeah, I don’t know what the deal is but I must be doing something right. Hopefully in a few months I’ll hit that magical and elusive One Million in One Month mark. We’ll have a party or something.

Congrats!! I’m pretty new to this side of the interweb but I’m guessing you’ve got so many hits is because you put out a great product. It’s a nice mix of a little bit of everything and it does refresh often, which is great.

Allow me to say that I think you’re doing a great job here and please keep up the good work.

You are a force to be reckoned with…and I am so proud of you! Love ya baby….Write that book!

  3. WiscoDave says:

    Good on you!

  4. LBS says:

You discount how many of those hits are from K hitting the refresh button 800,000 times to see what you’ve exposed about him next. :-)

I have been reading you ever since Kate at http://www.smalldeadanimlas.com linked you with the “Gassing a hippie” post. I have read it a few times since then and I still get a kick out of it. Your stuff has really evolved since then and I think it has got better over time. I am probably good for about five hits a day. I keep wondering what you are going to post next.

  6. Congrats Wirecutter! Even us old ladies love your blog! :o)

    Keep up the good work.

Damn, I don’t think there’s enough time to make up the 100K hits in the rest of the day to make it to that million. I just can’t hit F5 that fast with my dial up connection. Just keep doin’ what you’ve been doin’ an’ we’ll keep comin’ back. If I send any jingle to you, it’s to help with blogging costs, or ammo or, most importantly, to take your sweet young thang out to dinner.
Btw, that envelope should’ve had a small USB drive in it with some music and literature, unless them lousy bastards at the Post Office broke it. Let me know id it didn’t make it and I’ll send another one.

    • Wirecutter says:

Nope, I was wondering about that – there was a small hole in the envelope, dammit. I thought it was maybe the mailman cramming it in the box because I hadn’t picked up my mail in a few days.

      • Inbred Redneck says:

No problem, sir, I’ll send off another in a few days if my memory don’t fail me. Otherwise, might be a few weeks, who knows.

Glad I found your site through Angel’s. You both are somethin special and we wish you two and your families all the best.

  10. Elmo says:

    Pretty darn cool.

  11. John says:

I come here for the stories, you have had a few adventures and a knack for telling them. Ever think about writing a coffee table/bathroom book? My all time favorite is the pepper sprayed protester. Bahaha.

    • Wirecutter says:

Folks are one me to write a regular book about my life. I’m not sure it’ll sell but it would be cool to have a hard copy on my bookshelf.

  12. Deb says:

How many years have I known you? Despite those evil pics you post “for the ladies” that get my hopes up, only to find it’s some dude in a diaper with a clown wig on, I still visit a few times each day. Why don’t you check and see how many hits your Sam Eliot post got. Put him on here a few times, and there’s your Million A Month Club.

  13. Angel says:

What? There are people out there who don’t know who you are? Shocking.
    Write the damn book.

  14. elric says:

    41 million hits combined….

    Damn. Just damn…

    Gotta write the book, man!

  15. Steve says:

I try to do my part, probably hit it 10 times a day. Yeah, I know….get a life.

  16. Timbo says:

I think it’s cause you’re a straight up guy, that posts straight up stuff.
No bullshit, no hidden agendas, no spin.
Just a decent guy, with a good sense of humor.

    Sadly, thats rare.
    So once again, thank you!

  17. dddddancetotheradio says:

This is what I think about when I read your blog.

  18. digger says:

Your posts are much appreciated….thank you. I look forward to them every day.

I can only concur with these other folks! Damned entertaining and some insightful opinions.
Really enjoy the new “Gun Porn” pics. If or when you do get around to writing that book,
I’d be up to purchase a copy.

  20. Jim Winslow says:

Hey brother hope you don’t mind… I have to share your Milfy Mondays and Fanny Fridays with my group on Facebook… All my Navy buddies love you for it!

  21. John Deaux says:

Congrats Wirecutter, as you know I’m new here, relatively, but trying to do my part.
I love most of your site, I’ve been going thru your older stuff to catch up and find it very intertaining.
A music link, youtube ?, occasionally could be a good break from the dumb shit people do.
I would start but have no idea how to do it.
