Gold is where you find it (old miner’s saying)

The truck on West 48th Street was armored and the sidewalks in Midtown Manhattan were bustling with passersby.

But none of that stopped a man from making a $1.6 million windfall Tuesday afternoon, when he picked up a metal bucket filled with gold flakes from the open back of the vehicle and just walked away.

The truck’s guard had gone to the front of the vehicle momentarily when the thief saw his chance, police later said according to the New York Times. He walked up to the truck bed, gripped the unmarked and sealed bucket and made his escape, walking briskly past two men having a conversation on the street and a woman strolling by.

“CBS reported it was unclear if the thief might be able to open the bucket at all.”

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

What a bunch of pussymediadumbasses. By now, even if its not open, the fucker knows what he’s got. Give a 8 year old girl time and tools and she can get in it!

And wtf was all that flake in nyc anyway? Jewelry trade?

“..wtf was all that flake in nyc anyway?”
      Could be electronics recycling. There
are a lot of precious metals in a circuit
      board.

Inside job, driver opens the back and just suddenly walks to the front, for what?
Ah hurry up Buddy and grab it why am not looking. Lol

  3. Timbotoo says:

Any idea of what that would weigh?

    • Wirecutter says:

      It said 80 pounds.

    • crazyeighter says:

According to the article, it was 86 pounds. Even if it were just lead wheelweights, it was a good heist. (Ask any reloader about this.)

I’m thinking the guy knew what he was doing; why else would he grab a bucket from the back of an armored car? And where was the second courier; they’re not supposed to ever leave the open rear of the vehicle unguarded (Can you guess why?)

Well, thanks to the news, if this guy reads it, will know exactly what he has! The weight alone would give away that its something valuable. Its REAL heavy and in an armored car, its either precious metal or its radioactive.

This guy is also a real weakling for not being able to carry it, seriously? I carried two #45 dumbbells at the same time back from the PX to my barracks! It didn’t take me much longer than usual. Thats 90 pounds!

    • Larry says:

It’s a lot easier in two pieces. Hell, I can carry two 5-gallon water bottles easier than I can carry one, just because the load is balanced.

  5. Gnome Sane says:

Wonder why (((he))) would go to (((Florida)))?
