Gun porn

A Colt Agent in 38 special.
My mom has one of these, given to her by my dad about 15 years ago. It’s a fairly decent revolver for what it’s intended for which is a back-up gun.
I’m not a big fan of Colt revolvers. I don’t care for the pull type cylinder release at all and given the difficulty of finding aftermarket parts, the triggers are a bitch to tune properly. Neither me or Pops could find a lighter mainspring, but again that was 15 years ago – they may be out there now.

I’m getting something like that for Christmas. :-D

Had one, dumped it. Beautiful blue, fit and finish and mainspring that broke on three occasions

At 15 feet you’d have a better chance of hitting the target by throwing the weapon at it rather than pointing it and pulling the trigger.

Actually I have no complaints about the accuracy of the gun at all. I could put a cylinder in a fist size group at 7 yards all day long.

My bride has two Ruger LCRs. Both are amazingly accurate.
(I shoot into a bullet trap at 25 yards- long story.)

Before shooting them, I wouldn’t have believed a short barreled revolver could be so accurate.

The main reason people can’t shoot a snubby accurately is because it has such a short sight radius and they’re not willing to put in the practice to learn how to shoot a handgun beyond hitting in the general vicinity of the target. It’s easier to blame the short barrel than it is to master the muscle control and hand/eye coordination.

I cut 1/2 a coil off the mainspring of a Ruger Security 6 several years ago and that lightened up the trigger pull quite a bit. Just to be clear, I mean 180 degrees from the end of the spring, just a half-circle of the spring wire. It is risky fooling around with springs like that, but I have not heard of any subsequent problems with the spring failing.

I’m not a fan either; the cylinder turns backwards.

My dad had a colt snubby. I remember the time he unleashed its fury on a snake. Started off in classic one hand upright stance, fired & missed. He took a step, leaned closer, fired again. Another miss. He repeated this technique, leaning closer each shot until the weapon was empty.

Never did hit that snake but he probably rendered it deaf.

The Baroness has a S&W Model 36 with Packmayr grips. I reworked it with a set of springs from the gunsmith so the DA trigger pull is down to 7 pounds (from 13!). A nice shooter.

I had a Colt Cobra in .38 Special that was a lot of fun to shoot, and dead on accurate. It had an alloy frame that was pretty light, too.

The ex got it in the divorce. Haven’t been able to find a replacement for it, yet.

I get along with the older Colts revolvers all right, but don’t care for the newer ones, like in the picture, and none of them as well as Smith & Wesson’s. I know people who really like all Colts revolvers, however.

I put some pachmayr grips on mine. It makes for a great belly gun.

I am a smith guy…I was at the range, finishing off a box of 38 special. I sat at the 50 yard line with a pre model 10 snubbie… I did not exactly have a “group”, but was hitting the paper more times than not. Screwed with peoples heads though.

I had a little Charter Arms Off Duty with a 1 1/2 in barrel and was fishing at my favorite pond about 25-30 years ago. There was a plow disc, maybe 9″ in diameter mounted on a tree about 35 yards away. I smacked that sucker 5 times out of 5 – blew me away. That’s when I realized that the bullshit about them being inaccurate was just that – bullshit.
I sold that gun to my father-in-law about 3 years ago. He still has it and I shot it about 4 months ago.
