Citroen DS, apparently. Don’t know the year.

  11. Peter B says:

Citroen. Not sure which model but I think in the DS series.

  12. EDM says:

Citroen DS. Anytime you see a really goofy interior you know it’s a French car.

  13. irontomflint says:

Is that a Citroen dash? I’ve only ever heard of that kind of steering wheel.

  14. d says:

I recently saw a show on the Velocity channel that featured a car with the same type of steering wheel. Can’t remember the make, but definitely European.

  15. kowa4826 says:

    Don’t know the model year, but I’m guessing a French Citroen … Fran K. (N.Va.) …

  22. Ed says:

Maybe a Citroën? Can’t think of anything else that would be that strange.

  23. Doonhamer says:

    21:00 Edinburgh, Scotchland time.
    That is a Citroen DS.
Dispite being French, a brilliant, in advance of its time, automobile.
So many good and clever things about it.
Happy New Year, For Auld Lang Syne and lang may yer lum reek.
I raise a glass or four to Mr Ken Lane and his good lady, Miss Lisa.

  24. Ben Derhover says:

An old girlfreinds dad had a couple of Citreons with steering wheels just like that. Very Mod…..

  28. bogsidebunny says:

Not sure the make of the vehicle but right off I’d bolt a “skull-shaped” suicide knob on that wheel at 2-O’clock!

  29. Kenn-aka-Keeper says:

Kind of looks like a Citroen interior….

  30. 3rd Generation says:

    Citroen – mid 60’s. FUGLY – eh?

  31. John h. says:

I give up. Looks like an American Motors/Rambler color scheme we had in an old push button trans station wagon. Around 1960??

  32. RTinWeimar says:

Citroen DS probably about 1958. Only the French could have come up with something that weird back then and called it luxury.

  33. Bill says:

I believe it to be a Citroen of some type but don’t know the model . I believe they called them safety steering wheels.

Citroen DS from the ’50s or ’60s when white plastic was fashionable. I think it is the only car ever with a single-spoke steering wheel.

Sad part is those are actually decent cars once you get past the looks.

    • crazyeighter says:

Yes. Not everything that company made was a 2CV. I got to see a lot of the 2CV’s clone and replacement while I was in Spain in the early 80’s.

I was just wondering how many hits this month and wanted to ask you, but didn’t want to jinx it.
One million again is pretty neat. Congrats! I’m glad it wasn’t just an election related thingy. Also, I like those comments from Europe.

        • Wirecutter says:

I was kinda surprised I hit the majik mark this month seeing as my site was down for a half day and I didn’t post til noon on Christmas Day.

My faithful readers from Germany, the British Isles, Sweden, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Oklahoma and other exotic places are great people and I really enjoy their views.

I never considered the British Isles ‘exotic’ before. LOL

  67. First series DS-19 Citroën with the hydraulic shift. Shift lever also starts the car.

Awesome fun machines, complex if you’re a Flathead Ford sort of person, but simple dawdle if you are used to wrenching combines or planes.

The biggest Citroëns are awesome on the autobahn or motorway, but alas the big models ended a couple years back when the C6 production stopped.

Huge website done by one of the top level experts on the marque at
