clear Columbus down toward Cincy and you see that kinda place ….

intersection of two state roads, church, mom n pop place, tavern and all-purpose township bldg.

ten miles of corn, beans and soy …. repeat throw in an Amish wagon with the kids selling baked good, preserves and cheese and you got it

Curious where you went to college. I grew up in that area, Rainey’s been gone many decades.

I attended Athens College in Athens, Alabama from 1967 to 1971. I returned in 1972 and stopped at Rainey’s. Buster Rainey always used to say that if you wore out a pair of shoes in Elkton you were destined to return. I certainly qualified on that count. I wore out at least one pair without venturing further than the parking lot. Most college kids said Buster and the ‘Old Man’ were not to be messed with, but I always got along with them well despite my Yankee ways. I didn’t return again until 1998 but by then it was gone. Nothing but fond remembrances. I do have a photo of the place. Athens Alabama is also notable as a one time home to ‘Fred On Everything.’
