Judge allows rally to proceed

A federal judge’s ruling has cleared the way for the alt-right group “Unite the Right” and white nationalists to hold a rally in downtown Charlottesville, Va Saturday near the endangered statue of Robert E. Lee over the objections of wary city authorities.

U.S. District Judge Glen Conrad ordered a preliminary injunction late Friday night in a lawsuit filed against the city by right-wing blogger Jason Kessler.

The rally is expected to draw white nationalists, neo-Nazis, neo-Confederates and alt-right activists to Charlottesville’s Emancipation Park to protest the city’s vote to remove the statue of the Confederate general.

what moron thought that a “torchlight march” was good optics needs to be shot.

    they’re REALLY not helping.

    • Wirecutter says:

I think ‘helping’ is done and wrapped up. Liberals don’t understand nice.

      • warhorse says:

I’m not saying “be nice”. I’m saying “don’t do stuff that makes you look like a rally in berlin in in 1935”

we can fight them without giving them footage for their whoever-is-gonna-run-against-trump campaign ads.

        • ChuckN says:

Even if the gathering was of moderates, the left would still be calling them alt right, nazis, and white nationalists. Maybe these are simply a group of people who have decided to start acting like the left has been claiming gor the last 40 years.

remember the scene in Robocop 3 where the reporter loses it over the crap she’s supposed to say about the now-rouge cyborg? we’re damn near there. they can call us whatever they want. through our actions is how people will judge us. carrying nazi flags and giving hearty “seig heil”s is not the way to win.

How about just regular people tired of the bullshit, think anyone like that might show up

Any “rally/march/demo” that pisses off the Liberals and turns them into drooling maniacs is A-OK in my book!

  4. Exile1981 says:

Good, the city has no right to squash dissenting views.

  5. crazyeighter says:

You think the judge green-lit this event because he knew this was precisely what was going to happen?

  6. sk6actual says:

Unfortunate it had to end in such a manner. Can’t call any of them heroes but I feel some pride that there were those that stood and slammed the pinkos with their own medicine. Commies riot and there is hardly a ripple … stand up whites revolt and they become white supremacists.

    What’s wrong with that picture?

IMO, those calling for statue removal have way too much space in their brain. This is not the land of Lenin.

Still awaiting responsible reporting on the auto drivers affiliation/motivation(s).

If your comment 'disappears', don't trip - it went to my trash folder and I will restore it when I moderate.
