Those damned California transplants…

WYOMING, Mich. — If you live in Kent County, you might’ve noticed him. He’s a man who gets up early to run a few miles, but he does it while carrying an American flag and wearing a tutu.

At first glance, you might think he’s a little nuts, and Robert Woldhuis will admit that he kind of is. He’s an ultra runner, now training for a 50 mile race, but Fridays are what he calls ‘Fly the Flag Friday’ and it’s getting a lot of attention.

Gotta say, the guy is a vet, lost his two sons ten years ago in a car wreck, and fought back from being addicted to drugs or booze. Plus he carries the flag once a week for all to see. I don’t care what he wears, he has my respect.

Amen! Lottsa folks would still b in the bottle over somethin like that! I’ve got a friend that lived it and he’s a “functional” alcoholic. I think one of the things that is saving, preventing his wake up call is “Uber”. I seriousley doubt i could weather that storm no matter which child or grandchild might b involved. Ive lost both parents and an exwife but, children or grandkids, that would probly b to much for this disease ridden old sole to bear. I hope i could but i gotta admire that guy.

i bet the tutu does better job at keep him safe on the roads than a high-vis jacket. everyone slows down to see the crazy guy. can’t say i would do it, but shit it could be worse.

“Every day is a gift”. As a cancer survivor I fucking agree.

      Yesterday is History.
      Tomorrow? A mystery.
Today is a gift from GOD!
That is why we call it the present.

  6. Maybe he’s Greek-American?

    Fuckin’ love this guy.

Geez, and the western part of the state is the conservative part. Have to respect the guy for pulling himself back together though. My Father in Law lost two sons and he was never the same. It’s a hurt that doesn’t go away.

Well bless his heart, and I mean that in a good way.
