Democrats Poised for Complete Dominance in the West

SAMMAMISH, Wash. — It is the stuff of liberal fantasies: a vast, defiant territory, sweeping along the country’s Pacific coastline, governed by Democrats and resisting President Trump at every turn.

A single election in a wealthy Seattle suburb on Tuesday could make that scenario a reality, handing the party full control of government in Washington State — and extinguishing Republicans’ last fragile claim on power on the West Coast. The region has been a rare Democratic stronghold on an electoral map now dominated by vast swaths of red, and Republicans’ only toehold on power there has been a one-seat majority in the Washington State Senate.

The prospect of such far-reaching autonomy for Democrats, who already hold all three governors’ offices as well as both houses of the legislatures in Oregon and California, has infused extraordinary energy into what might have been a low-key special election. The race is on track to draw more than $9 million in campaign spending, a record-breaking sum for Washington State. National environmental and abortion rights groups have mobilized, business associations and oil companies have poured in money, and a former vice president, Joseph R. Biden Jr., has intervened on the Democratic side.

Sharon Nelson, the Democratic leader in the Washington State Senate, conveyed the party’s grand aspirations in an almost Trump-like phrase: “A blue wall,” Ms. Nelson enthused, “from the Canadian border to the Mexican border.”

The crazy never stops but it does seem to be collecting in a few spots. At this point, if they want to join up and secede, I say let CA split too and the parts that want to join, have at it boys.

Fact is as time marches on, we have less and less in common with them.

  2. Winston Smith says:

A few years back we made a rambling trip to WA thinking that it might be a nice place to retire to.
After being there less than a couple of days, it just didn’t ‘feel’ right. Talked to some locals we met at grocery store, on the streets of small towns, etc, and all said the same thing without being prompted: Californication. The fools had shit their nest in CA, moved to OR and WA to get away from the shithole that they made, and are now trying to make WA like it is ‘back home’. Folks we talked to HATED Californians and to a person, advised us not to move to WA.

    • Wirecutter says:

It’s not too bad out here but it’s far enough that Californians are a rarity. The ones that do know I’m from there put up with me because I’m assimilating to their way of life, not the other way around.

      • Winston Smith says:

When I was growing up in TN, ‘yankee’ or ‘yankee-lover’ was about as bad as you could call a white person. That changed over the years as more northerners got fed up with the libtards up north and moved South. We got to know these folks and realized they are just like us but had the misfortune to be born elsewhere. If you have anything resembling our Values, you will be welcomed in most parts of the South ime.
        And that includes Californians.

      A plague of locusts.

  3. California Southpaw says:

Fuck’em. They are already running out of other people’s money. The day I retire I will be headed east.

  4. ignore amos says:

California billionaire Tom Steyr is pouring money into our local elections. No water rights due to the Hirst Decision. You can’t develop or even sell your own property without water. F****** mind your own business, you hippie liberal twat.

    • California Southpaw says:

He is one serious POS. Green energy billionaire from investments is scared because Trump is fucking with his gravy train.

  5. Unclezip says:

Six years…I hope we can hold out that long.

    • DW says:

I think your pushing it for 6 more yrs. Best try to get out behind enemy lines while you can. Best of luck.

  6. bob says:

Makes it easier to push them into the ocean though.

  7. Granny says:

The splitting off of the Late Great State of California, also Oregon and Washington, into the Pacific Ocean, by the imminent fracture of the San Andres Fault line will finally solve this problem. Nevada will have water front property, as well as a balmier climate.
The other solution could be to return Califonication, and the Gadsden Purchase states to Mexico. Texas might be a problem as many Texans would object fiercely. It would save the price of a ‘wall’ (which is a ridiculous idea) Hadrian, China, Russia and other totalitarian regimes have tried and failed to stop the unwashed hoards from crossing an imaginary line into their territory, or out of it.

    • rick says:

I’m not sure that you understand. WA, OR, even most of CA is EAST of the San Andreas fault zone and associated subduction.

  8. Mike says:

Washington is kind of a strange set of circumstances. Fifteen miles either side of I-5 border to border we have a liberal sewer. Outside of that fifteen miles, it’s great but our voice is too small.

  9. Rickvid in Seattle says:

Hey, hey, hey, not all of Washington is lefty loons. Seattle is a beautiful city run by complete child minded idiots, elected by gimme gimme people or those who are all sorts of altruistic with other people’s money. But, over the mountains to the east is a whole different state. Oregon, too. And much of Cali north of Dim Fran Shitsco is rather liberationist, not Leftist. Ah, a liberal republican democracy. How I want to see it all over the land. Sadly, we have Liberals, who hate the republic, and think democracy means “fair.” Ask the two wolves chatting with the lone sheep about the dinner menu. Pure democracy.

  10. Son of Rusty Shackleford says:

Note that they’re talking about the counties along the Pacific Coast, not the entire state. WA and OR east of the Cascade Mountains are very much normal (i.e., they vote red), just like a lot of CA does the farther you get away from the coast.

  11. rick says:

CA coastal counties which vote red, from south to the gay area; San Diego, Orange, Ventura, San Luis Obispo, Monterey.

  12. Trib says:

Every time a hear about some pacific hemorrhoid wanting to come to Texas for work I want to puke. I feel sorry for the western people that are controlled by this whale shit. I hope one day they collapse on them selves because the hispanics will turn on them one day and restore order to what use to be a 3 great states.

If your comment 'disappears', don't trip - it went to my trash folder and I will restore it when I moderate.
