The fucking Left and the MSM…

When Donald Trump was asked about gun control in the aftermath of a church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, that killed at least 26 people, Trump was ready with a standard “good guy with a gun response” talking point to deflect gun control arguments. “This isn’t a guns situation,” he said. “Fortunately somebody else had a gun that was shooting in the opposite direction, otherwise it wouldn’t have been as bad as it was, it would have been much worse.”

Trump and many conservatives pointed to the actions of the man the Dallas Morning News identified as 55-year-old Stephen Willeford. According to CNN, Willeford “exchanged gunfire with the shooter before the gunman sped away in a pearl-colored Ford Explorer. [Willeford] then hailed a man across the street and got in his truck, telling him to chase down the gunman.”

After a 10- to 12-minute car chase, the gunman, Devin Patrick Kelley, “lost control on his own and went off into the ditch,” according to the man driving the truck in the chase after the gunman. Around five minutes later, police found Kelley in his car, dead from what is believed to be a self-inflicted bullet wound.

Willeford was undoubtedly heroic, but as an argument for wider gun rights, this example is not as straightforward as conservatives make it seem.

Watched a movie checked out from the library last night. The Dark Tower, or some such by Steven King, noted gun control advocate. The hero, is called the gun slinger. His story is that the answer to the bad guy is a good guy with a gun. It’s funny to me how many plots from Hollywood follow this theme, yet they think it never really happens. Don’t Hollywood people watch their own movies? In this case the good guys didn’t have a gun.

Too late for the “lets rid America of ALL guns, which guarantees no more gun murders” assholes. With 80 million legal hand guns in the public domain and probably 20 million illegal ones that ignorant idea won’t wash. Plus the object of the Liberal politicians calling for a gun-less society isn’t to prevent killings. They could give 2-shits less (look at Chicago’s South-side). It’s to control the honest, legal gun possessing masses.

Stopped reading at “Kelley used an assault rifle in his church massacre. “

Didn’t start reading when I saw it was from Slate.
I have more important things to do, like trim nose hair. And load ammo.

Hey Ken, would you please put a “Slate Alert” on future posts? It would have saved me some time better used for cleaning guns.

I am normally a decent person, and treat women kindly. I seldom call anyone names, even if they deserve it. And I can count on one hand the number of times I have used the c word that rhymes with hunt. In this woman’s case, I am just glad that I don’t have to speak to her in person. Because I might need to start on the other hand counting, because she deserves to be called pretty much whatever bad name you can think of.

How do you figure the us population had 80 million guns I don’t know one gun owner with just one. I’d bet it’s more like 300 million guns

A neat discussion on just how many guns are in the hands of the citizens. The gun grabbers will never be able to confiscate what is out there, not to mention all that will be produced at home once the confiscations start.

AR-15’s are sporting rifles not assault rifles. A number of churches I know of have armed members in the congregation in case of a nut case like Devin the devilish.
Had one or two congregants been armed, there would have been a lot fewer dead. Bank on that.
Remember the one in Colorado a few years back?

    • Elmo says:

My local Sacramento news (Fox40) just had a story about a medium sized church here that encourages CCW holders to carry in church. The spokes dude said the number of congregants that are armed is usually 30 to 40.

This Slate bullshit cries out for fisking, & I’m sure someone will. So many errors and assumptions in so few paragraphs it’s hard to credit–but then, it’s liberal nonsense.

  8. Trackster says:

He died of a self inflicted wound, shot himself in the armpit, with an AR-15? That is one talented gunslinger.

  9. anonymous says:

“It’s unrealistic to expect that a good guy with a gun can be everywhere a bad guy with a gun goes.” is the money quote for me.

That right there is the point of why gun control will NEVER work. No one can predict when evil intent is about to be committed. We can only hope that we are prepared to deal with it. CHL holders are a way to slow or stop people who’s intent is to harm people. Because you can’t predict who is carrying and who isn’t.

“But GUNZ !!!” What if instead of using a gun, the bad guy would have just gunned his vehicle engine and drove through the church instead. Would gun control stop that ?

  10. CarlS says:

The allegedly well-informed opinion writer (not reporter) said: “… shootings unfold quickly, in places where people often don’t carry weapons. It’s unrealistic to expect that a good guy with a gun can be everywhere a bad guy with a gun goes.” Herr educational curriculum evidently did not include critical thinking courses or even just one logic course, else she would have grasped that routine violation of the Second Amendment Right is what prevents people from having guns available as both a means of defense and as a deterrent.
