SAN DIEGO – San Diego police received 164 guns during a no-questions-asked gun buyback event that proved so popular that officers ran out of the gift cards they gave in exchange for weapons.

Capt. Alberto Leos says $25,000 worth of Walmart gift cards were given out during the buyback Saturday in the department’s Southern Division.

164 guns @ $150= $24,600. I guess no one wanted to turn over their “assault weapons” for $250…

164 guns? Shoot here in Western North Carolina that’s just a medium size personal collection.

$25,000 for 164 rusty broken-down gangsta pieces? According to my math that’s about $152.50 each.

I’ve a got a cheap, broken, Italian made .380 that was given to me in pieces that I’m saving for a buyback.

I am waiting for the next gun buy-back here in GA. I inherited 2 Bryco .380’s and a non-working POS 22 revolver that I need to get rid of.
