Are we back to this garbage again?

One-hundred-and-eighty years after Jesuit priests sold slaves to save Georgetown University from financial ruin, a group of descendants is calling for restitution.

The university’s president has apologized for the sale, and the school has taken steps to make amends. But Georgetown owes its existence to the money made from the sale of 272 enslaved people, argues Georgia Goslee, lead counsel for the GU272 Isaac Hawkins Legacy group. And the school is no longer near insolvency, but instead a thriving, elite university with a substantial endowment.

Shouldn’t the descendants of black rapists pay the families of the white women they violated and ruined?

  2. Sanders says:

Their first mistake was apologizing for what someone else did.

  3. crazyeighter says:

Perhaps every graduate of Georgetown since the sale should be made to pay for this.

    • Rebar says:

I think all the assets of Georgetown should be liquidated and the proceeds divided equally amongst the descendants of the slaves. All alumna of the university benefited too. They likewise should sacrifice a portion of the net wealth (50%?) And a portion of their future income. Harvard and Yale also benefited from this unsavory practice. Shut ’em all down. Sell everything…pay the oppressed. Don’t cut these racist bigots any slack!

      • Bacon says:

Seriously, shut ’em ALL down. Every single educational institution worldwide. No loss. No exceptions. Academia is not salvageable.

  4. Exile1981 says:

Georgetown already gives them preferential access to the university.

None of the people asking for money where slaves or ever experienced slavery 2nd hand. Even the oldest of them are talking about there great grandparents.

  5. bogsidebunny says:

Maybe the Pope ill offer some of his billions to the poor folks….Yea right!

  6. earl says:

I guess they should have kept their slaves.

  7. nonncom says:

Can’t any of these so called “offenders” just tell them to fuck off and move on?….

  8. Mike_C says:

Reparations. Yes, let’s DO talk reparations. What are we owed for: Watts, Detroit, Baltimore, Flint, Chicago, Camden, the list goes on. What are we owed for disproportionate use of multiple welfare* programs, medical, court, and prison (“more expensive than college”) resources?

*welfare: I HATE the term “entitlements” because random people are NOT entitled to what I earned, just as I am not entitled to walk into your fucking house, eat food out of your fridge, and sit on your sofa scratching my ass while watching your TV. And watching at full volume some shit program you don’t even like, at that. I believe in charity, and helping out those less fortunate, but they do NOT have a RIGHT to it.

What about the financial and career harm done to whites and Asians kept out of jobs and colleges in the name of affirmative action? Never mind that the white guy is Albert Raudsepp whose parents immigrated from Estonia to the US in 1972 and not one person in the Raudsepp clan ever oppressed a person of color, much less owned an African slave. Is it official US policy to discriminate against a person because of his race/ethnicity**, regardless of what he personally did or did not do? Isn’t that RACIST? And isn’t racism apparently a worse sin than anything?

**that was rhetorical. Of COURSE it’s official US policy to discriminate — against white people. And I say this as a NON white person. It’s fucking obvious to anyone paying attention who has even a modicum of objectivity. On a personal note, 70 or 100 years ago I’d probably have been angry the other way around on behalf of blacks, Chinese (“No dogs or Chinese allowed”), and so forth. Hell, 150 years ago I’d have been angry about how the fecking Irish were discriminated against. But things have changed. A LOT.

People need to STOP fetishsizing their victimhood. Yes, terrible things may have been done unto “your people” in the distant past. They may have been enslaved. They may have been rounded up and put into death camps, for that matter. That does NOT give you the eternal right to demand special treatment for ever and ever. That ESPECIALLY does not give you the right to consider others not of your special little in-group subhumans to be exploited. Prior victimhood of your ancestors or distant relations (or people who just vaguely look like you) for that matter, is NOT an pass for free shit, lawlessness, and mistreatment of everyone else. Particularly when you consider the people YOU are now exploiting through your “reparations” bullshit may be descendants of men who gave their lives to end slavery, liberate your people from death camps, and so forth.

If a race war ever comes to the US, which I fervently hope and pray does NOT happen, the race baiters and eternal victimhood scammers will be the ones morally responsible for kicking it off.

Tell them the University will pay for their senior year if they pass the freshman entrance exam with no “special” help.

  10. veeshir says:

I’m as for this as I can be.

Georgetown is a bastion of Social Justice Warring.
Hoist on your own retard is not just hilarious, it’s all that’s good in the world.

    • Mike_C says:

      >Hoist on your own retard
Was that a deliberate malapropism or autocorrect?
Either way it’s fecking brilliant! (And I am stealing it for future mis-use.)

      • Veeshir says:

Deliberate. It’s all about the schadenfreude.
        By all meand, take it.
You also get to laugh at people who get mad because you used ‘retard’.
Two laughs for the price of one!

  11. mark r says:

Just give them and their children free watermelon for life.

  12. OfayCat says:

Now y’all has gotsta gib some dat money to the down trodden po’ negroes y’all say what?

  13. RBR says:

Simple solution, simply shut down this highly racist organization.

  14. ron says:

charge the desendants for room and board and clothing, ect ,of those who were sold, with intrest, adjusted for inflation.

  15. Sabre22 says:

They want repaprations for slavery from 180 years ago. I have the solution I want reparations for the costs of the civil war after all it was fought to free the slaves. Here is what I demand all costs for both sides be repaid in current dollars. Secondly I want at least 100,000.00 per every non-slave holder casualty on both sides. Other than that they can go to hell.

  16. bob says:

it wasn’t made rich from the sell of slaves. it was kept from going broke. all the wealth it has gained is from the hard work of all the white people who worked there. If these half wits want money, find out how much the slaves were sold for and give them what the money was worth in 1865.

    • Wirecutter says:

From the history books I’ve read about my area, slaves cost about $400 apiece back then. That would be a pretty penny to pay out in today’s dollars.

    • crazyeighter says:

…half wits want money, find out how much the slaves were sold for and give them what the money was worth in 1865.

      In Confederate money.

  17. pdwalker says:

Reparations? Sure, but it would also include a 1 way ticket to Liberia and a revocation of citizenship for them and their descendants for eternity.

  18. paulb says:

Let’s sell some Jesuits at the Clinton Memorial Slave Market in Libya. It’ll be good for the Catholic church, too. Those heretics need to get suppressed yet again for trying to destroy Christianity and Western civilization.
Proceeds to benefit the victims of gang violence in Chicago, which means every US citizen should get ’bout a penny, which, coincidentally, is about what a Jesuit is worth as anything but ballast.

  19. Aesop says:

I fully agree with this suit.

Everyone who actually picked cotton, and was actually sold into slavery by Georgetown U., should immediately present their claims at trial, including birth certificates and slave Bills of Sale.

Everyone else should be kicked out of the courthouse for lack of any standing and expiration of the statute of limitations decades ago, hard enough that their asses don’t hit the ground until they clear the steps.

After being assessed and fined for their share of defendant’s legal bills.

Then the lawyers who presented the suits for plaintiffs should spend some time – we’re talking some weeks, not a few hours – jailed for contempt of court, to contemplate the error of wasting the court’s time with this kind of judicial horsesh*t.

    Pour encourager les autres.

If they are amenable to waving their Eighth Amendment rights, I would accept having them placed in unsupervised public stocks in lieu of jail, for an equal period of time, on a 1:1 basis.

IIRC, it’s a little chilly in D.C. just now, but they should have plenty to eat, what with all the fruit and raw eggs that’ll certainly be coming their way.

Play nice.
