That’s what happens when you illegally change lanes.

What a douchebag. Looks like he killed the second truck’s radiator,

  2. rayvet says:

Good for the truck drivers to have that camera. Fucking idiot thinking they can just cut across lanes when merging like that. I see that bullshit every day on my drive to the office. Pisses me off. That right there is Karma. Truck driver(s) did absolutely nothing wrong.

    • Wirecutter says:

We used to load Safeway’s trucks with 16 tons of freight. Add in another 10 or 15 tons of tractor and trailer and it takes a bit to stop.

  3. mrgarabaldi says:

    Hey Kenny;

Man that pius driver screwed up 2 trucks, first by the illegal lane change, then slamming his brakes in front of the second truck. Home he has good insurance and good for the truck having the camera.

    • ChuckN says:

You don’t have a business, do you? If this goes into a courtroom a judge
will still shaft the truck owners/operators because everyone knows
business people are loaded and can afford a payout; video or not.

      • Sanders says:

Yep. Judge will say the truck was going too fast for conditions.

The truck driver may have already lost his job, because his company’s insurance probably won’t insure them if he is still driving.

Asshole Prius drivers – like all the other asshole drivers out there.

      • Richard says:

No way with the dash cam video.

        • Judy says:

Yes, way. The driver lost his job and will have a tough time getting another one. And yes, the judge will say he was traveling too fast for the conditions.

And people wonder why drivers dislike 4-wheelers so much.

          • Richard says:

Judy, curious how you know the driver lost his job?

Too fast for conditions? He was in the far right lane and the Fedex truck was passing him like he was standing still.

As a former liability investigator and claim adjuster it’s not as simple as who rear ended whom. The Prius driver created a hazard in the roadway resulting in the collision. Just as when there is a multi-car pile up because of slippery road or reduced visibility, it’s not the last poor mope in line who is at fault.

1st hand experience on this one added to a long experience with other contractors and trucking outfits. It’s so ingrained
that most companies I know/work with have their insurance
default to a pay out regardless of circumstance.

For me, I once saw a teen run into the back of one of my dump trucks. The truck was parked in a large parking lot with nothing around it. One of my guys had a camera going and filmed it. The crash was witnessed by not only my crew but 2 firefighters who had stopped to say hi. We all rushed over. The teen was fine but we all saw a cell phone with text messages popping up. Called LE and an ambulance just to cover all the bases. I had, video, 8 witnesses including 2 firefighters, and a cop’s determination of no fault. The judge ruled in my favor and still told my insurance to pay the claim. Think this was an aberration; just ask any truckers or contractors and see how many stories like mine pop up.

“The judge ruled in my favor and still told my insurance to pay the claim.”

            Sorry Chuck, I’m calling BS.

Lawsuit captions are “Plaintiff A vs Defendant B”.

Insurance companies are not party to the suit, just contractually obligated to pay judgments entered against their insured up to the policy limits.

In fact where I worked (Illinois) whether or not the defendant had insurance was inadmissable, not pertinent to the facts of the case.

I cannot believe a judge would rule a defendant not liable and order a third party to make restitution. If one did, he would be reversed on appeal.

I watched an Audi get bounced just yesterday for the same arrogant move. Made my heart sing.

  5. Hillbilly says:

I think we have a new sport here.

  6. Just a Chemist says:

Good to see Zoomie is still clearing our roads of fool drivers! While a really bad idea, I can sort-of-overlook the double lane change, Prius was probably checking pintrest (if girl) or watching porn (if guy). We’ve all had moments of inattention. But the break job after getting out of the way of truck #1, what the hell? Why are we stopping on the interstate?

  7. grodd31 says:

    Must be Maryland.

  8. Gryphon says:

And Weirdly, they’ll Follow a Truck so Close (Blind-Spot) and then, because they can’t See what’s Ahead that causes the Truck to Brake Hard, they Rear-End the Truck. I’ve been Hit like that Twice, never saw the Car behind Me, Braked Hard and Heard a Noise, looked in the Mirror and saw the Steam from their Radiator.

  9. Westcoastdeplorable says:

The fact it was a Prius is incidental. Most Prius drivers (like me) are very aware of and have great respect for vehicles that are heavier. It’s the trade-off for getting that 60+ mpg.

    • Andrew says:

What? Most Prius drivers in Gainesville, FL think that their shit is gold plated and that they always have right of way, even over cops and emergency vehicles.

Sat at many an intersection while a flock of Priuses block an ambulance going full ambulance. Little ‘green’ fuckers couldn’t care a damned bit that someone’s life was in danger.

Whenever I see that damned leaf symbol (for hybrid) or an all-electric vehicle, I assume that the driver is an asshole. I have been rarely surprised, finding out that the driver is a fucking asshole.

And they’ll willingly tell you how they are saving the environment from everything, and will completely ignore actual facts that show they are wrong. What can you expect? They also believe in ‘man-made climate change’ or whatever the fuck they are calling it these days.

Shit, if I’d ever become king of the universe I would have all the hybrid and electric drivers and their cars get forced to drive in Arizona in the middle of summer with the windows deactivated and with no chance of refueling at all. Let them all fry and die while I’m driving around in muh gazzzz guzzler with the AC going full bore.

Do notice I am talking about all the liberal asshats in Gainesville, FL. Some (not most from my experience) may actually act like real humans.

      • Judy says:

Please, Please don’t send them to Arizona. We have our hands full defending ourselves from the California do-gooders.
