I got to meet him once, great guy.
I was part of a support crew when he filmed a show about driving & shooting a 1934 Stewart tank. I’ll never forget how he got down on his knees so he could chat with a crew members 4 & 5 year old kids.

I went into the Corps a couple years after FMJ was released, everybody knew every line he had in the movie

    RIP Gunny

  5. Angel says:

Sarah knew and loved him as Sarge from Toy Story movies and Cars. She loved to bark out his lines, especially, “Move, move, move, MOVE!!!” And usually in public crowds. :-) Please take care of my Angel, Gunny.

  6. TC says:

Ermey could eat nails and piss ice cubes, but couldn’t take one more President Trump disappointment. RIP Gunny.

What’s it like to have a self-made billionaire POTUS living rent free in your head? Give it a break, and show some respect.

    • Padawan says:

      You must be new here.

    • Nemo says:

TC – There are people in this world who have no filter and just don’t know when to Shut The Fuck UP. What are you twelve? Dissing President Trump in the same sentence mentioning your supposed respect for recently departed R. Lee disrespects both men.

The good ones go and the evil ones remain. There is no Justice.

  8. Mike says:

I was drafted into the Army in 1971. Went to basic in Ft Polk, LA. Had a DI who’s name I no longer remember. He was commonly referred to as “Drill Pig” among the platoon members. When I saw FMJ it was like Drill Pig was back. Identical voice, mannerisms, and attitude. Hard to believe Gunny is gone. Guys like that should live forever.

  9. brighteyes says:

As the song says he is now guarding the streets for the big guy.

  10. John Deaux says:

    Damn, RIP Gunny.
    You will be missed

  11. Tom W. says:

Met him at the NRA show in Charlotte 2010.
We stepped into the designated “smoking area” and had a wonderful conversation with my son present.
He was part of a special breed of men much needed to be remembered. Go into that goodnight. And God Speed.

I was honored to meet him a few times at Fort MacArthur in San Pedro. Truly a fine gentleman, and an inspiration to countless others.

Semper Fi, Gunny, and carry on, SIR!

  19. pigpen51 says:

It does seem like the good ones are leaving way too young. Semper Fi to a man who was a true American icon, and a Patriot in every sense of the word. It should remind all of us that we need to live every day like it is our last. And the people who said how kindly he treated everyone shows the way that ALL movie actors should be.

  20. Cynikal says:

He was my father’s real drill instructor in the marines … He hate his voice every time he came on tv.

Fair winds and following seas Gunny. I’m proud to call you Patrot sir.

  25. From one Marine to another

Here’s health to you and to our Corps
    Which we are proud to serve;
In many a strife we’ve fought for life
    And never lost our nerve.
If the Army and the Navy
    Ever look on Heaven’s scenes,
They will find the streets are guarded
    By United States Marines.

    Godspeed Gunny, Semper Fi.
