University of Texas to Treat Masculinity as a ‘Mental Health’ Issue

The Counseling and Mental Health Center at the University of Texas at Austin recently launched a new program to help male students “take control over their gender identity and develop a healthy sense of masculinity.”

Treating masculinity as if it were a mental health crisis, “MasculinUT” is organized by the school’s counseling staff and most recently organized a poster series encouraging students to develop a “healthy model of masculinity.”

The program is predicated on a critique of so-called “restrictive masculinity.” Men, the program argues, suffer when they are told to “act like a man” or when they are encouraged to fulfill traditional gender roles, such as being “successful” or “the breadwinner.”

    If this goes in Texas…….

  2. NewVegasBadger says:

They use the words “successful” and “the breadwinner” as if that were a bad thing! Any parent considering permitting their son to attend that academy of mental gymnastics ought to reconsider that decision.

  3. (((Doc B))) says:

Sounds like time to transfer out of Texas while the getting is good. I’m guessing that a UT degree will be worth as much as a mizzu one soon.

  4. Guairdean says:

I hope that they realize that a “healthy model of masculinity” includes whiskey and cigars.

  5. SgtBob says:

Sam Houston did not want Austin as capital of Texas. He was far-seeing in many things. If California goes, maybe Austin will go with it.

I just returned from being active. Scary, huh? To read this crap of an article. The program is currently without leadership. Hmm. Couldn’t leadership be considered a masculine trait and therefore contradictory and now I’m just confused.

They had to create jobs for all these “councilors” that they created.
This started way back in the 70’s when goin to a shrink was looked down on as the losers they are. Hollywood and the “media” started portrayin it as good to go to them, hence, a surge for “councilors”. Colleges were thrilled, more useless degrees, now to create the jobs. A “councilor” in every school. Make the demand and bring in the supply.

“Fuckin” Austin; might as well be San Francisco.

  9. CC says:

Austin, the black hole in the center of TX.

Lets burn Austin down. The commies are well known, start with them. When the commie lawdogs show up, shoot them. It might take a month to clean it up.

The Counseling and Mental Health Center at the University of Texas at Austin…

When you see that phrase, you can treat it the same as “I support the Second Amendment but…” in that everything that follows is pure bullshit.

  11. Eric says:

Texas needs to stop taking in refugees from Commiefornia before its too late.

  12. It’s Austin, it’s a liberal shithole.

  13. Wayne says:

You have to remember, Texas is a red state and UT is located in Austin. Gov. Rick Perry described Austin as a blueberry floating in a bowl of tomato soup.

  14. FriscoKid says:

Cost of a four year degree at U of Texas = about $200,000

Cost of an orchiectomy (surgical castration) = about $8,000

    College or castration?
Save money and get the same results!

    • Mike_C says:

Haha! What could a person do with $192k and four (or more) years saved? (Not to mention the time, mental energy and money saved if you have no interest in girls.)

More seriously, it is sad that this is happening under ADM McRaven as chancellor of the UT System. That said, McRaven was against allowing concealed carry on UT campuses, and for allowing illegal immigrants to attend UT and pay (cheaper) in-state tuition, so maybe it’s not a surprise.

To put it in Trumpian fashion: Had high hopes for Admiral Bill McRaven running UT. Recent bad decisions very disappointing after distinguished career as SeAL and former SOCOM commander!

      • Bacon says:

Not just $192K saved, also have to add in the net earnings from those four (or more) years of work, plus compound interest on the additional savings over the course of a career. The real savings is certainly over a million and could easily be millions.

        • FriscoKid says:

          Agreed.
At least get into a trade school and learn something useful for the real world. I know plumbers and painters who are raking it in.

    • Chet says:

And the operation for women who want to be men is called an addadicktomy, correct?

  15. Bryce says:

Austin is the San Francisco of the Southwest. I kid you not.

  16. nwoldude says:

    I like Austin City Limits.

First it’s Austin, then all the fucks that moved from Cali will make the rest of Texas just like Cali. . . Doomed!

  18. Bacon says:

Nothing new. I remember almost exactly the same language being used 30 years ago.

  19. truthzzzz says:

Homosexuality used to be classified as a psychological disorder by Psychology standards.
Now masculinity is treated as a mental health crisis issue by the University of Texas – Austin mental health staff.
180 degree turn into insanity there.
