Aah…my old home town. I recall that back in the early 70’s, when then Santa Fe Junior college first opened their zoo, someone brought them a sick bobcat. It was dying so something like 17 people took turns giving it mouth to mouth resuscitation. It turns out that it had rabies. Yeah, there were idiots running around loose back then too.

Steenkingwhatever. The Zoo has gotten better. The city has just gotten worse.

It is a nice zoo, though.

Hey, Wirecutter, you could have tossed this under either “guess the race” or “Bushmeat, anyone?”

I left Gainesville in 1976. I was in theree 3 years ago for an afternoon. Until that day Gainesville had always fondly occupied a corner of my heart. Pfft! Gone. The best view that I had of town that day was in my rear view mirror as I headed south on 441. And THEN I passed the former site in the Beef and Bottle and it was the islamic center. FAAAAK!
