Making a run for the border

The following military units are headed to the U.S.-Mexico border to meet President Donald Trump’s directive to deploy active duty forces through Texas, California, Arizona and New Mexico. DoD now reports more than 7,000 troops will be tasked to support the Department of Homeland Security.

Quite a few of those troops arriving in the Texas Rio Grande Valley sector, the Border Patrol can use the help. A lot of northbound foot traffic in this region. I know the motel – hotel franchises are smiling.

This is good news but I also read where a lot of the “militia” folks are heading there too. That, I don’t see being such good news. While I’m sure there are some groups well organized with training to some degree, I knew some people involved in local militias here in North Georgia and they were just cop/soldier wannabees with no concept of law, order or strategy. I swear these guys got off on wearing their tactical clothing and carrying their gun but don’t think they would really be much use on the border and more than likely just get in the way of the professional soldiers. I hope there’s no altercations between the two groups.

Glad you brought this up. It is a serious concern. A great idea (US troops on the border) that can go very wrong if these wannabes get in the way.

Minutemen have been around for awhile, not their first rodeo.
        From their home page,

“The border area, in some places, is a very dangerous place…known for providing pathways into the United States for trans-national drug and human cargo cartels. Several U.S. law enforcement officers and civilians have been murdered by international bandits in these areas.

Confer with all local law enforcement persons you encounter and heed their advice and warnings about the inherent risks you will face in the border territory. America wants Minuteman survivor’s, not casualties, so proceed with extreme caution!

Review all legal protocols with County Sheriffs having jurisdiction in the border territories where you will establish your camps. There are sometimes confusing laws on where you can, or cannot, carry a firearm.

Again, remember, you must confer with any member of law enforcement, including Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) “rangers,” who have policing jurisdiction in these areas.

Whatever you do, minutemen and minutewomen, stay within the rule of law…NO EXCEPTIONS!”

lots of engineers headed there, when I was an engineer there was two types. Combat eng. whose job was mostly to blow shit up, and combat heavy eng. whose job was mostly building stuff. we did a lot of cross training and there was little distinction at times.

Here’s my prediction; after tomorrow the level of coverage the media gives the caravan will rival the coverage of Christine Blasey Ford following the Kavenaugh confirmation.

May you live in interesting times. Old Chinese curse.
It’s gonna get messy because the Rent-a-mob will make sure that they have pictures of “Police Brutality” and anything else they can use to discredit the present administration.
Scrape ’em up, hose ’em down and chain them to a conveniently placed stake, in direct sunlight. After several hours of this, most of them will be crying for their mommies.
It’s the first time troops have been deployed on American soil since the Civil War. Unless you count the breakup of the veterans protest camp in Washington D.C. in the 1930’s.
