Then to now is as if we were on Mars.

Is this a young Chris Costa? He is using the much vaunted c-clamp with his support side.

There used to be some awesome toy guns available when I was a kid. I had a toy 1919 that had an actual spent casing on a little hinged piece, so when you pulled the bolt back and pressed the trigger, it actually looked like it was ejecting stuff. One of my friends had a toy MG34 that had a looped belt of plastic ammo, so it fed just like a real one.

The best one I ever saw was a toy version of the 75mm pack howitzer that actually fired (via spring) plastic shells that exploded on impact. The shells were pre-fragmented and could be reassembled and reused – if you could find all of the damned pieces.

Ah, the good old days. When we played Cowboys and Indians and used to actually shoot each other with our parents blessings (they bought the cap guns!).
I hate to admit it, but I’m old enough that I actually remember 3 of those vintage commercials. When the video got to the part when the guy said “If it’s Mattel”, I was right there with him when he said “It’s swell”.

    Thanks for the memories.

My brother had the tommy gun… I remember him terrorizing my friends as we played with Barbie dolls … good memories.

3 bucks for the tommy gun? Those were the days.
