I scrolled down that page until the snake scared the hell out of me!

that would strain your tackle. Usually pretty light as a 1 pound crappie is pretty big.

  3. Winston Smith says:

That’s a BULLSHIT record. It was caught in a small farm pond where it had been raised to be a monster. Dig up the back story if you don’t believe me.

At best, there should be a category for wild fish vs farm raised fish.

Crappie was our family’s eatin’ fish of choice back in the day. We’d go out and bring ’em back a hundred at a time. Water moccasins would sometimes try to climb in the boat with us.

As Havilah Babcock wrote ‘whoever caught that fish is a liar’.

I’d swear I’ve seen Croppie (That’s how I pronounce it) in New and Old Melones that big.

There’s nothing like being in a crappie feeding frenzy!

I’ve caught them with just a bare hook.

  9. Robert Evans says:

We called black crappie “speckled perch” in Florida when I was a boy. It’s the best eating of all the non-bass sunfish.

Play nice.
