Bend over and lube up, Oregon

Oregon – -( SB 978 has it’s first “amendment”. It’s 44 pages long and turns the bill into a nightmare anti gun bill.

We told you about SB 978 yesterday and assured you that this harmless looking bill was going to be gutted and stuffed with draconian anti-gun language, and it has been.

Here is a link to the “Dash 1” amendment to the bill. And of course we use the word amendment quite loosely.

The “amendment” is 44 pages long. The “bill” was a few paragraphs.

After our first review of the bill here are the elements we noticed immediately. No doubt we missed a few.

I lived in Oregon 26 years … Sad to see the I5 corridor slackers try to ride rough shod over the rest of the state. Confident that most of the rural sheriffs will declare sanctuary counties if this bill passes. And the individual counties may finally figure out they can pass very selective legislation as well. One Oregon county (Clakamas?) has an ordinance where if you are convicted of a DUI you forfeit your vehicle. Rural counties could enforce similar legislation selectively against the Portland-Eugene-Salem contingent and develop a great used car lot.

We’ve been waiting for this. They’ve used the same tactic before: create a bill with an innocuous name related to whatever Draconian bullshit is needed, publicize it, then clear the text and fill it with amendments. When they’re done, it will be called an “emergency”, and the bill will be rushed through before anyone can really mount a challenge.

Fuque ’em. There’s no real panic yet, as there are still a lot of Sheriffs out here who are on our side.

They pulled that emergency thing they had a gun bill on the table. Anything they can do to keep us from really challenging or voting on it. They have some hearings early tomorrow morning but I will not be able to attend because of an appointment in Portland tomorrow morning. Regardless of anything they pass, I will not be complying. Guess I will have to stock up on powder, primers, and bullets.

The locusts are corrupting everything here. I was shopping in Salem a couple of days ago and the clerk mentioned that soon you will have to purchase for $0.05 or bring your own bags. At least they still hold an AR raffle on campus at OSU every year.

In California they use what’s called Gut and Amend. They’ll take a bill that’s already been through committee hearings, strip the language out of it and create a new gun law out of something that had nothing to do with guns to begin with. That way they create another 2A infringement with ZERO public comment or input.
Not that anything the citizens would say would make a lick of difference to the Totalitarians running this place anyway.

      • Unclezip says:

There’s a committee meeting tomorrow. We all know there’s gonna be a whole lot of two-minute speeches, each followed by “Uh-huh, thanks for your input.”. Won’t make a damned bit of difference.

I went to a ‘public safety’ committee hearing on several gun bills in California a few years back. The committee was chaired by Tom Ammiano, a queer from San Francisco. What was most interesting was to watch how all the Democrats completely tuned out anything the pro-2A people had to say.

Also interesting was that there were 2 deputy sheriffs from L.A. at the hearing to speak in support of the new gun laws. They were in uniform, so I assume they were being paid taxpayer money to travel and speak there.

Trump has two more ultra conservative justices going through the approval process for the 9th. Time for the NRA to get off their ass and start spending some of that money we keep sending them. That applies to the state of California too.

There goes the left again, in their bubble picking a fight they can’t win.
Are your accountability lists up to date?

    • FaCubeItches says:

Picking a fight they can’t win? They’re the only army in the field; hence, they win in a walk every single time. The next time the Right fights will be the first time it’s ever fought.

True that…Sad isn’t it when the useful idiots keep on winning because we can’t get our act together because of a million different excuses…
