Texas wants to restrict food stamp purchases

HOUSTON — There is a push to ban food stamp recipients from using their food benefits on certain groceries.

The proposal would ban people from using food stamps on energy drinks and any beverages containing at least 54 milligrams of caffeine per 8 fluid ounces. This does not include coffee.

It would also ban people using food stamps from buying candy, some chips and cookies.

AAANnnnnnddd….there’s a problem with this? I’m restricted in the amount of “junk food” that I can buy. I realize that “junk food” is bad for ya; so I self regulate…….
Those folks that can’t self regulate; and they’ve shown it by not getting up and getting a job, and they have abdicated their survival to “Father Government”, should have their choices restricted.
They haven’t shown any responsibility to contain their carnal desires; so why should we tax payers support that lifestyle?

Why do you need an energy drink to sit on your ass all day?

Prediction: it is not a question of when, but how soon it be denounced by the race baiters and SJWs as being …..wait for it…..RACIST and another example of White Male Supremacy.

Ahead of me at Publix a teen girl bought a candy bar and received about $7 in change, turned to her friend and said ‘now we have money to go to the mall’. She used an EBT card, under $10 purchase you receive the balance in cash

I used to work in a 7-11 type of place in the early 80s.
People with foodstamps would get a small carton of mild for a quarter, you were supposed to give them cash in change.
The first time it happened and the guy took the cash and immediately bought beer and smoke. Forever after I gave them foodsamps in change.
They yelled at me for it but quickly stopped coming in when I worked.
      Leech assholes piss me off.

They didn’t go far enough in the restrictions. They should also ban fillet mignon, crab legs and lobster. Food stamps are mean to provide basic nutrition not gourmet dining.

    • Ogrrre says:

Agree. Food stamps should be only for staple items … flour, sugar, corn meal, salt, potatoes, onions, and such. No chips, no cookies, no ice cream. Those items are not necessary. If you want luxuries like those, get off your ass and work for them. Alternatively, kick every able-body off of food stamps. If you don’t want to work, starve.

Boy that’s a pet peeve. I see these bastards pullin two carts full of junk, not one nutritious item in either cart. All junk food and these Mama’s are fat slobs and so are their kids. Then they get to check out and whip out that damn SNAP card that I paid for. Pisses me off to no end.

  10. Butch says:

Yeah well this is harmless. The legislature is now in session and evidently all been paid off handsomely by the commies, they want to give wetbacks welfare, crack down on gun ownership and increase the sales tax. They are all heading for disaster with their voters.

  11. fjord says:

I think the obvious solution is to stop food stamps -assistance, period. Maybe stupid people wouldn’t have kids they can’t afford. Maybe we shouldn’t pay to people to sit on their asses.

You get more of what you subsidize.

Relevant to EBT, how it works, what people buy, and how they behave, here are a bunch of links to “True Life Tales by the Ghetto Grocer” (James Lafond).

ought to be basic nutrition , pork , hamburger , beans , rice , noodles , milk , cheese , butter ,eggs, flour ,fresh fruits & veggies . If you arent at work all day then you’ll have plenty of time to cook real food , you do not need instant , or frozen meals . Leave that stuff for the tired out working stiffs supporting them . Take away the debit style card and go back to the food stamps that are easily recogonized , there ought to be some shame in being a parasite.

I remember a similar push to do away with food stamps in the late 80s or early 90s in Florida and replace it with government food stores. The main argument that quashed it was that it would strip them of their dignity to be seen shopping in such a store!

Play nice.
