The gun was stolen AFTER the arrest???

CHICO — Butte County Sheriff’s Office deputies made three arrests Monday afternoon after what they say was a routine traffic stop which led to several other crimes.

According to Butte County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Miranda Bowersox, the car was stopped because of a broken tail light.

Actually, it says the firearm was later confirmed stolen, then it lists the final charges. Pretty common for information to develop during and after the arrest which effects the final charges.
Original charge is a taillight out, that develops into resisting arrest, then they find out the guy is a convicted felon, then they find out the gun is reported stolen. Just one possible or maybe probable chain of events.
