Well, this helps explain their non-stop soliciting

National Rifle Association Chief Executive Wayne LaPierre billed the group’s ad agency $39,000 for one day of shopping at a Beverly Hills clothing boutique, $18,300 for a car and driver in Europe and had the agency cover $13,800 in rent for a summer intern, according to newly revealed NRA internal documents.

The documents, posted anonymously on the internet, provide new details of the clothing, travel and other expenses totaling more than $542,000 that Ackerman McQueen Inc. alleges Mr. LaPierre billed to it.

The travel expenses allegedly include more than $200,000 in “Air Transportation” costs during a one-month period in late 2012 and early 2013, in part related to a two-week trip over Christmas to the Bahamas by Mr. LaPierre.

Pay-walled now. S’OK. Not that I wanted to read about the internecine backbiting anyway via Maremont;s lens.

Wayne is and always has been a lying, thieving, pandering POS.

Would you like to know more?

    • Nemo says:

Is lying thieving pandering POS covered under capitulating on every piece of gun legislation that has come down the pike on his watch or would that be under selling out the membership to the gun control agenda?

This is similar to several other non-profit CEO fiasco’s that have come to light in recent years. Like the Girl Scouts CEO who was making $0.25 on every box of cookies sold.

If these non-profit CEO’s were honest about their dedication to an organization’s goals, they’d serve for free.

If the NRA doesn’t get rid of LaPierre after this revelation, They’re toast.

“If these non-profit CEO’s were honest about their dedication to an organization’s goals, they’d serve for free.”

That would violate the axiom of “Do well by ‘doing good.'” The whole point to going into a non-profit’s leadership is to loot the bejesus out of the place. Sort of like how much the upper echelons of groups like United Way, etc., make.

  3. grayjohn says:

Yeah, I think I may abstain from membership until this asshole, and others, are gone and the NRA remembers what it is supposed to be and do. Elitist douche bags.

  4. Steve says:

Sigh……so it has never mattered. …….doesn’t matter if the organization started out with good intentions. ……once the power suits get a certain amount of money. …..then the base evil human tendencies come forth.

I doubt I, my ex and both sons have spent $39,000 in clothing in our lifetimes, let alone in one day.

Keep it up Wayne; you’re just reaffirming my decision to cut you fuckers loose.

  6. somedude says:

my wife sees thousands of these “non profits” financials, she calls them “for profits” in the Directors and Officers compensation line item. I will never give to any of them. if I need to donate, I will not use middle man who takes a chunk of it.

    • MN Steel says:

      My wife does, too.

The worst are “charities” for cancer, police, fire, veterans, and animals.

Heart-string-tuggers are damn-near guaranteed to be all-out scams.

My gun club insures itself thru the NRA, so we all have to be members… shit.

    • Wirecutter says:

I was looking to join a gun club that just opened a range a few miles from here but declined when I got the application and it said I had to prove my NRA membership. Yes, I sent them a nice email explaining why I was no longer interested.

      • WestcoastDeplorable says:

I’ll bet the phrase “you motherfuckers” was included in that email!

      • MN Steel says:

You could always buy a Taurus and use the included Free Year Membership….

        What is it now, $150/year?

  8. anonymous says:

I think he screwed himself over but good. Just what we need at this time too. Whadda dick move . . .

  9. LaPierre has been CEO since 1991. That’s long enough.

Corruption, even corruption that starts almost innocently at, takes over after a while. A little here and a little there and all of the sudden, you have real abuse of your employer’s pocketbook.

LaPierre has had enough time. The organization is in financial trouble and the CEO should not be spending organization money like a drunken sailor. In fact, you can argue it is his fault there is financial problems. After all, it is the CEO’s responsibility to run the organization successfully.

I will not be renewing until he is gone. I hope anyone who agrees with me does the same.

    • Wirecutter says:

      Agreed.
Myself, I haven’t been a member in many, many years but if they were to ever get rid of LaPierre, I’d take that as a positive sign and would consider renewing my membership.

      • Dustin says:

Same here. Once I actually got involved and joined a “real” gun rights group like “The Citizens Defense League” in VA, I saw that the NRA did jack shit for gun rights, but sure as hell wanted more money. Until they throw out these assholes (not likely) I won’t join again.

I do not wish to be a member of any club that would have me as a member Grocho Marx, I live mantra every day. I have been asked to join M/C clubs, the marine corps league The Harley owners group and many others and I have told them the same thing all I would be to these people is a dues paying sap that I would not be.
