From the emails:
The boss let me drive to Chattanooga yesterday and spend the money for a ride on a B-29 Super Fortress yesterday. I didn’t tell her I picked out the most expensive seat on the airplane.
This may be my final email when she finally figures it out but the ride was worth every cent.
Bill
Wow! Very happy for you. Truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Very very nice! Congratulations! And…… THANKS for the pics!!!
Thanks Bill. You broke my Envy-ometer®.
It was an awesome ride.
Karma decided I’d have to have plumbers here on overtime today though.
Fuck yea!! Much envy here.
Were you looking for that T shaped bridge?
Bastards wouldn’t let me drop any bombs.
Yeah, yeah, but did you get to BOMB anybody?
Thanks for taking us along, Bill. I’m guessing it was around eight hundred to a thousand bucks for that ride. She is (was) a great boss.
$1595 for the bombardier’s seat. $1195 for flight engineer or radio operator. I wouldn’t have spent that kind of money but the wife insisted I should. Best “Yes dear” ever.
It took me long enough to figure out who the ‘boss’ is. She’s a keeper!
I’m proud for you Bill. It is a rarity to be afforded the opportunity to ride in one of those great ships from day of yore.
JEALOUS! Congrats and it looks like it was worth every penny!
God bless you. Just the photos are amazing. I bet you are over the moon.
I took a ride on Aluminum Overcast (B-17) a couple of years ago. I know the grin that spread across your face, getting wider and wider as the aircraft picked up speed down the runway. Glad you got (and took) the opportunity!
I flew on Aluminum Overcast, last year in November. Flew out of the Morristown, TN airport. Best money I ever spent. I agree with your grin getting bigger as the plane took off. Mine did.
Good to hear you had a great flight Bildo. I’m jealous as hell.
Awesome for you. That is a beautiful bird
Lucky bastard…..that would be a helluva a ride.
