Looks like an advertisement for Firestone 500s…

  2. Tractordude says:

Maybe they should avoid hitting curbs, this is not caused by an alignment issue.

Yep, broken belts. Probably saw the tread was still there so decided to keep on going. I imagine the steering wheel shook pretty bad.

  4. JamesD says:

That tire has a bad case of rubber mites.

I think you are right. Bought an older pickup for one of my kids and it had a set of cheap Montgomery Ward house brand tires made by Firestone. One had a broken belt and the kid could barely keep it on the road at low speeds on city streets. Chucked all 4 of ’em and put on a set of mid-range Goodyears and got good mileage out of that set.

    Appears it got em there.

  8. David Font says:

I had one that looked like that. Radial tire used on one side of the car. Saved as a spare when I bought a new set of tires. Then used on the other side of the car. Messed it up quickly.

Time to jack up the gas cap and run a new jalopy under it.

Have not heard that saying in a couple of coons ages. Used it a lot in the 70s.

When the air is showing you got your money’s worth.

  11. M. Sage says:

The rubber on that tire looks really old and dry rotted. This is an extreme example of why they say not to run tires older than 5 years old, no matter how good the tread is.

I have a 2000 Chevrolet pickup. After I had a flat, I realized I had the same original spare. I took the best of the old and dumped it last year when I replaced all four tires.

  12. Rich in NC says:

… looking at that picture, your first clue would be?

  13. Butch says:

That tire should be saved until the next earth day when the owner can burn it to honor the earth mommy…whatz her name? Gila, Gia, Gupta?….something like that

Play nice.
