Oh well, it was good while it lasted

MONTOURSVILLE, Pa. (WNEP) — A Pennsylvania couple was arrested on theft charges after they spent more than $100,000 that was accidentally deposited into their bank account.

State police said Robert and Tiffany Williams, of Montoursville, spent the money on a wide range of items, including an SUV and a race car.

    What they should have done was transfer all that money into a savings account let it make interest and wait for the mistake to be uncovered. They give the original amount back and keep the interest. Still get free money, interest is not required to be paid back.

      That’s exactly what an office-mate did with a travel advance for a trip that was cancelled. Took almost a year before the paperwork was sorted out. Interest payed for a simple but nice weekend for him and his wife.
