Oh man, wouldn’t this be sweet?

There’s a little-known precedent on the books that Democrats are trying desperately to have removed before the impeachment trial of President Trump begins. In 1974, as Nixon faced impeachment, the Republican Congress passed a law that would allow his term to be extended if he was acquitted.

The law was specific to Nixon, and was set to expire in 5 years, but Nixon resigned. The removal of the law, therefore, never happened.

Wouldn’t THAT be a hoot~!!! Imagine that: Trump getting “reimbursed” for his time lost due to the democrats’ coup attempt would be the biggest kick in the ass for the left and they would most certainly deserve it~! You wanna see a total melt down??? lmfao!
I pray this law is either still on the books or is re-legislated into being.
    “Hope” remains eternal, right?

    • MT says:

If we follow that line of thinking, the “reimbursement” clock should have started on the day of Pres Trump’s inauguration— or even better, Election Day! That way he can get a third term without the need of amending the Constitution. Wouldn’t that be a hoot?!

    • Bert says:

……and, the dims have already said (I guess it is their kind of “contingency” plan) that if The Donald wins in 2020 (or 2023 per the story here) then they are going to impeach the man again. Looks like he might be in office until well after Barron graduates from college, gets married, and starts a family.

Holy shit! And the WH commented.

  3. Ben Gangloff says:

It would be great to watch Dem heads explode. I might even turn on TV again.

  4. Mark says:

It’s a fabrication – trolling, but WHAT FUN!!!

  5. ed357 says:

    Specific only to Nixon law…..

The liberal DEMocRATS took the Civil War Era citizenship law that only applied to slaves….

And have made it apply to noncitizen anchor babies in the modern era….

It would be karma if we could apply the Nixon law.

  6. Onehalfmvsquared says:

The other thing the MSM won’t mention is that during the Senate trial all members have to be present. That means Harris, Booker, Sanders and any other Senator cannot campaign. Drag it out past Super Tuesday or even into the Fall. Would be a blast watching the chaos!

Once this is over President Trump should order the FCC to review the broadcast licenses of CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, etc. They need to be taken down, bigly.

    • Bear says:

Ah, no. They require a quorum, which is only a majority of Senators. They need 51 minimum.

      • Onehalfmvsquared says:

In Nixon vs the United States the Supreme Court affirmed that the Senate can make their own rules. McConnell has the right to require the presence of all Senators during the trial and is considering doing so. A quorum of 51 is required for all votes and 2/3 of the members present required to convict.

The asshole Democrats made up their own rules in the House, let them eat shit. I’d drag this out until the day before the election.

  7. Flight-ER-Doc says:

yeah, bit of a problem with the 22nd Amendment there….No matter what ‘law’ the Congress passes

    • pigpen51 says:

I think you are pretty much right on, with this one, Doc. But it would be fun to see Faux News ask the question of all the left wingers that come on.
I watch their show The Five on occasion, and I can just see Juan Williams head explode if Greg Gutfeld brought it up.

    • wayne says:

Don’t see anything relevent in 22nd that would prevent this. “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.”

It appears he could get to be prez for 11 years if only the “Nixon law” was a real thing.

    • Bear says:

Depending the phrasing you might get around the 22A, but 20A specifies what year a term has to end. This alleged law definitely conflicts.

  8. Sabre22 says:

The supreme court could rule that the 22nd amendment does not apply in this situation. As the three years is not a complete term but an extension of the 1st term.

  9. Chuck Darney says:

I know full well that this would never be allowed and would be struck down as unconstitutional or for other myriad reasons but, HELL, I ‘d pay good money to watch the MSM/Leftist heads explode while that process went through the courts!

  10. meh says:

Clinton did 8, lest ye forget.

  11. paul b says:

karma the no 3 rd term was so no one could ever eclipse FDR. seems we should repeal that

  12. Chris Mallory says:

Sorry guys, this is a satire. The “expert” Art Tubolls is listed in several stories as everything from an Archbishop to a Director of Propaganda for the White House.

  13. Bear says:

Fake. This boilerplate is popping up in forums and blogs all over. And none seem to be able to provide a US Code or even congressional bill citation for this law I never heard of, even though I followed the Nixon mess.

  14. Hadenoughalready says:

…and then we can elect either Don Jr. or Ivanka. Wouldn’t THAT be a kicker…lmfao!

  15. Hadenoughalready says:

Fake or real doesn’t matter. It’s pissing the left off and I say let it go viral. Bwahahahaha

  16. Hadenoughalready says:

I love it! And the more it messes with the left’s heads, so be it…

  17. SWRichmond says:

    Holy f###### sh##

  18. Hadenoughalready says:

Ya, I know. But she’s a Trump and that’ll set more heads to explode.
Besides, by that time, papa Trump will have already installed all the Constitutional judges and policies in place, leaving her little to mess up.
I am sticking with Don Jr, though. He’s a chip off the old block.

  19. Jack says:

    We can only Hope, but….
I have never been a hope person, the dirty illegal muslim obama drove that nail further.
    Soooo…let us prey.

  20. crazyeighter says:

Democrats will tell you it was passed to keep Roosevelt from running for a 4th term.

  21. Sedition says:

If true, I’m investing everything I have in quaaludes…the left will be eating them like Tic Tacs.

  22. Rickvid in Seattle says:

Art Two-Balls. Yeah. If I want the world’s foremost expert, I will check with Prof. Irwin Corey. Still, the prospect of seeing the sturm und drange, the dark nights of the soul on the left would be … exquisite.
