“What was yours is now ours”

NEW YORK (AP) — The Trump administration urged Americans to cover their faces in public and limited exports of medical supplies Friday as New York’s governor took his own dramatic step to fight the coronavirus — vowing to seize unused ventilators from private hospitals and companies.

The Democratic governor was praised by a hospital association for moving to seize extra ventilators, but some Republican elected officials outside the city objected.

“Taking our ventilators by force leaves our people without protection and our hospitals unable to save lives today or respond to a coming surge,” 12 of them said in a statement.

First he ignores warnings, then he panics and wails his woes to the fed and now over-reacts by stealing supplies.
A mental midget and a TRUE tyrant. Way to go, Herr Fuhrer…

    Two things.

Three years ago, he was told to buy 16,000 respirators for exactly this contingency. He refused and directed his health department to develop a plan on rationing the 2000 ventilators he had. Then he spent the money on a solar cell factory that went tits up bankrupt. My guess is that the money ended up in the pockets of his friends (a la Solyndra with the kenyan boy god).

He first asked for 30,000 (I have heard it may have been 40,000) ventilators from the feds. He was sent 4,000 (4,400) and they sat in a warehouse for quite some time because they “were not needed yet”. Then he got 1,000 from the guy that owns Ali Baba. Now he says he needs 17,000. Well, 17,000 + 5,000 = 22,000. If he had gotten his wish, he would have a warehouse with at least 8,000 spares that will be needed in other jurisdictions.

In my industry, we had a saying: Your lack of planning is not my emergency. Truer words were never spoken.

It is known Cuomo really doesn’t care one bit for anyplace that isn’t part of Metro New York, Albany, or Long Island. He’s show his contempt for Upstate New York for years because, after all, it’s filled with Deplorables.

  6. Tsquared says:

I see every upstate hospital having a patient on every ventilator whether they need it or not. I also see the National Guard, who have a large population that is not from NYC, to balk as confiscating ventilators is not a lawful order.

  7. Hopefully Cuomo discovers the limits of power. And in the epilogue to this tragedy he gets sued and criminally indicted.

Probably just some probing to see what happens when they come after all the Bill of Rights and what people will do.

  9. Everybody knows the Democrats are evil wicked mean & nasty,
But the worse part is that the Republicans LET them be what they are and what they do.
Don’t Ya. Hide from that one Sheeple. Iva Cojones, Outlaw.

Unless new york citizens fight back, then they deserve what they get. Piss off and stay out of Florida.

In the article Cuomo states, “If they want to sue me for borrowing their excess ventilators to save lives, let them sue me”. A statement like this can only be made by individuals who have either a) a moral standard that will win in the court of public (and presumably a jury) opinion; or b) know full well that our judicial system is broken and will seek to protect the corrupt at all costs.

Given his track record, I think option B is the rule of the day for Cuomo and every other proto-tyrannist.

The actions this “council” has taken is all a test to see what they can get away with and how much we tolerate.
We cannot allow them to get away with even the slightest infringement of our Constitutional rights because this will only embolden them to move ever forward with their socialist agenda. If we don’t stop them now, we’ll NEVER get them back without a physical, kinetic, fight.
